Artwork: Princess Rosella from King's Quest

First off, I apologize for not posting for nearly a week now. I've been super slammed with digging through my manuscript critique (that will be a separate post), as well as personal matters. Whenever I get really stressed out, I tend to hibernate; it's how I deal with the pressure. But throughout all of my stress, I did manage to find some time to decompress by making a finished artwork!

In my last blog post, I showed a sketch of Princess Rosella from King's Quest. I was happy with the outcome of the sketch, and felt the need to complete it all the way through to the end. I'm not sure if many of you know this, but I used to be a professional illustrator back in the early and mid 2000s. I made a lot of cartoon-style artwork for four licensed properties. Adobe Illustrator was my go-to program for all my line art, and of course I relied on Photoshop for my coloring needs. I haven't been practicing this method for a long while now, so this fanart was a challenge for me. Not only that, but I am not that great at drawing and coloring backgrounds. It's one of my weakest points when it comes to art. For this background, I snapped a screenshot of KQVII's background (Chapter 4) and heavily referenced it as I painted. Below I made a mini gallery of my progress.

I also just wanted to say thank you to all of those who have supported me. Whether it be by donations, or dropping by and saying hi on my blog (which I absolutely love!), thank you from the bottom of my heart. I truly appreciate it!

Until next post!

Thank you so much!!! It very much does look like the Disney princesses! As I was reading old blog posts, articles, and reviewing concept art for this, I had come across a few snippets saying that the creators wanted the game to look like Disney. So, as reference besides the original concept art, I pulled several Aerial references as well as Daphne (Dragon's Lair.) I did look at one reference for Aurora as well for the bodice. :)
